A Penny Saved is a Penny Consumed

A few days ago my mom said, "Have you heard about your nephew's latest visit to the emergency room?" I thought back over this three-year-old's most recent accomplishments: the time he stuck his thumb up the faucet in the tub and almost cut it off, the time he put his bare feet on the glass in front of the fireplace, and the time he got bit in the face by a dog and almost lost his eye. What had he done this time? As you can see from the x-ray, he swallowed a penny. It may look like someone just erased part of the picture with the Paint program, but this is the actual x-ray. They went to the hospital because the coin was stuck in his throat (though he could still breath) but by the time they got to the emergency room he had swallowed it. Now he is experiencing the discomfort of trying to pass it. I guess he didn't get "good luck" from picking up this penny!

This whole series of events makes me ever-so-excited for the things my own child will do to me in the next few years. Being my child, she will have no lack of creativity that is sure to get her in a lot of trouble. Post your comments of crazy things your children have done. Penny for your thoughts?
