Christmas: Volume 1

Somehow I got waaaay behind on posts. So for the next little while you will be inundated with pictures and witty commentary on our holiday festivities. This post is about preparing for Christmas. First, you need a tree.To assemble said tree, stand back and take pictures of your cute hubby while he does all the work. After he threatens you with death (should you take another picture of his backside) don your tree-building gear and assist. In addition to their obvious fashion appeal, these gloves keep your hands from getting scratched and irritated by the branches of your faux foliage. Though not necessary, you can opt to prolong the merry tree-building process (as we did) by doing the following: when your tree is nearly assembled, try to put the top of the tree on. When it doesn't fit, conclude that you have put the posts in backwards. This will require you to remove ALL of the branches and put the top post on the bottom and the bottom post on the top. At this point you will discover that the top of the tree STILL does not fit, and you will realize that you were missing a piece. Dig through the box until you find the piece and realize that you really had the tree right all along, and you just dismantled it for nothing. [Note: Do not take any pictures of this process, or you will risk getting whacked with the bottom (or is it the top?) of the tree.] Reassemble the tree, and decorate. Now set up the train that will circle the tree. (Ours is a train set that Nathan had as a boy.) Here is Annalee playing "Damsel in Distress."After setting up the train, turn it on and ask your dog what he thinks.
Hmmm . . . pretty much what he thought last year. As a final touch to your house, set up lights around the cabinets in your kitchen.
(This one's for you, Danica, Rachel, and Koreena!) Your Christmas preparations are now complete.

Yes, it is very amusing. We don't have cable, but we do have Tavi!

You are so unbelievably funny! What a terrible mess with the tree. We have one where the limbs are permanently assembled to the tree. LOVE it.
