It's unofficial

We have a new RN!
This smile brought to you courteousy of Extreme Relief. Nathan likened his feelings to a woman after giving birth. (I'll refrain from comment on that one.)

We are so proud of him and all his hard work. He was supposed to take his test last month, the day after Vander was born. (heh heh, yeah.) We had scheduled it then because we thought there was no way our child could come a week before his due date. We had to pay $200 and reschedule the test for this month. Nathan drove down to Utah on Sunday (to the closest testing center) and took the test Monday at noon.

It was potentially a 5 hour test, but Nathan was out in less than an hour and feeling miserable. The way the test works is that the computer shuts off when it knows whether you are going to pass or fail. If you keep it guessing by getting some right and some wrong you could answer as many as 265 questions. Nathan's shut off at 75 questions, the bare minimum.

He was convinced he had failed. (I was convinced he had passed.)

He blew up bad guys in video games for a few hours to blow off some steam, then calmly started planning the steps he would have to take to retake the test.

Today we looked up his results. Nathan's seeming unconcern was unmasked as he collapsed back in his chair, slumped and weak with relief. We hugged and both cried, so happy that it is finally over!

The news is unofficial because he won't officially be an RN for another few weeks, when he gets his license in the mail. But we are OFFICIALLY thrilled!

Nathan my dear, if your opinion of yourself was half of what our opinion of you is, you would be a very conceited person! We knew you would do it and are very proud of you! Love ya

So cool! The 75 question shutoff must mean that he was SUPER smart! Congrats!

Sad that you had to reschedule, but HURRAY for him passing!!! That's so interesting about how the test shuts off when it knows if you're going to pass or not.

CONGRATS TO BOTH OF YOU for all your hard work and sacrafices!!
