Great-Grammy

One thing we love about Nampa is being so close to Nathan's grandma, Vera.
Or as we know her, Grammy.  She has been losing her memories for a long time now.  Nathan's mom (known to us as "The Saint") has been taking care of her in Grammy's home for over 6 years.  But things finally got to the point where she needed round-the-clock care.  Right before we moved, Grammy got a spot in a nice Christian memory center in . . . Nampa!  Now we can see her all the time.
Grammy probably weighs all of 90 pounds, but she thinks she can pick up Vander.  She tells us to leave him with her and she'll babysit him.
 The kids love their Great-Grammy.
It's a nice place with less than 20 residents.  We visit her every Sunday and on one other day during the week, depending on Nathan's schedule.  I thought it would be hard to visit so often, that we would run out of things to talk about.  Silly me.  The first 20 minutes of each visit are taken up with the same conversation each time, about how we are related to her, how far away we live, what the kids names are, and how adorable and big they are.  She is such a sweet lady.  Some people experience a personality change when they have dementia or Alzheimer's, but Vera is as pleasant and dear as she ever was.
We are sure lucky to have her close!
